~
Jim O'HAIR ('67) sends a shout out to all the folks with whom he had a great time in years past.  He especially remembers great Blue & White Weekends, which he created with Joe Roedersheimer, and remembers that original committee, including Rich Hattman, Bill Dziagwa, Doug Hoselton, Bill Greer, and everyone else who has kept the spirit alive.  He is thrilled that the concept has stood the test of time.

~
Amanda WELKER Cayton ('01) writes that she recently graduated and got married.  Obtaining a degree in Business, Mandy took a job with United Bank in Weston, and got married on the same day (July 9) as Allison BARNEY Ferguson ('01).  Mandy's husband, Brian, has degrees in Business, Criminal Justice, and Psychology, and currently works for the Home Show in Elkins.  Like so many PC alumni, she remains in close contact with her high school friends, including Anna TENNANT ('01) and Laura FLIGOR ('00) who were Maid of Honor and Bridesmaid, respectively, at her wedding.  We're glad to hear that Mandy and her husband are doing well, and wish them happiness always in their life together.

~

~ Sandra Van DEUREN ('85) found our website while browsing from Belgium, and enjoyed getting in touch with events around the school once again.  She fondly remembers her time with the Duer family, and her days as an exchange student spent at PC.  We are always happy to hear from our far-flung alumni, and wish Sandra well.

 ~
Kasey McCALL ('96) writes that she has entered her 3rd year of teaching Earth & Environmental Science at North East High School in Maryland.  Active as always, she has become the school's webmaster, and the JV Cheerleading Coach (this is not a typo).  She seems very happy with her school and activities, and was very proud of PC for winning the Mall contest.  Kasey welcomes all visitors to her school's website, which you can access by clicking HERE.

 ~
Christopher SANTER ('85) will be featured at the Parkersburg Art Center, beginning Sept. 9 (that's this Friday) and running through Oct. 31.  The show will be entitled "3 Journeys), and will feature a wide variety of his work.  An interesting adjunct will be that the Mezzanine Gallery will feature the entire watercolor collection from Chris' grandmother, Regina.  A reception will be held on the 9th from 7-10 PM, and all students, faculty, and staff of PCHS (as well, I am sure, all fellow alumni) are invited to celebrate with Chris this honored show.

 ~
Shane WHITLATCH ('86) has changed his e-mail address, and his lifestyle.  He sold his company (OpenNetwork) and is now selling real estate for ERA Lambrecht & Associates in St. Petersburg.  He is quite pleased with this turn of events, since he gets to spend much more time with his lovely wife Rebecca, and his two wonderful children, Rachel Shannon (5) and Corbin James (2).  His mom has also moved to St. Pete, and lives just a few blocks away, so they spend much more time together and enjoy time on his boat.  If you plan to move to the St. Petersburg area, check in with Shane for some nice listings HERE.

 ~
Sharon DAVIS reports that her daughter Kristen DeANGELO ('89) and Kristen's husband Louis ('90) are expecting their 4th child soon, this time a daughter.  The other children (Louis, Alex, and Aiden) are doing well, though they are all hitting that "wild" stage that makes everyone smile.  (except the babysitters.)

~ Heather GALLAGHER ('96) writes with news of her busy life.  Heather is now the Compliance Coordinator and Academic Counselor for Athletics at West Liberty State College, where she is also the coach of the Women's Tennis Team.  Not only does she keep the college in compliance with NCAA regulations, and assist West Lib athletes in numerous ways, her team is the reigning WVIAC champion, and Heather was named WVIAC Coach of the Year!   Like most PC alumni, she is integrally involved in all aspects of her work, operating game clocks and scorers' tables at tournaments in her "spare time".  Heather encourages anyone interested in West Liberty to contact her via e-mail (see the Alumni page) or by going to the school's website, HERE.

 ~
Robbie STRCULA ('98) has been hired as the new JV Boys' Basketball coach, where he will be assisting new varsity mentor Joe Garrett.  We're very excited to have Robbie around more these days.  He and wife Erin BROGAN Strcula ('97) have moved back into the area, naturally bringing little Hanna along for the ride.  Erin is a Physician's Assistant, and Hanna is a raging bundle of energy, combining good qualities from both parents.

~ The DAVIS family has all sorts of good news of late, as Fallen BRUBAKER ('01) reports from her job at Danser Sheet Metal.  Sister Tracee DAVIS Pfeiffer ('91) and husband Chris have added a new member to the family.  Benjamin was born June 10th, weighing in at 7 lb.s 4 oz. and measuring 20.5 inches long.  No doubt Emma is a proud big sister!  Kristen DAVIS DeAngelo ('89) and husband Louis DEANGELO ('90) are expecting again, though no word yet on the date or gender of the new arrival.  Congratulations to the entire family - we're certain grandparents Vic and Sharon are tickled pink.

~ Brad WILCOX ('98), noticing his name mentioned on the site by way of Ryan FOUGHT ('98), wrote a wonderful long letter to inform us of his adventures.  Brad is now a Petty Officer 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy, and is stationed in Gaeta, Italy, where he will remain until June of 2006.  After that, he's been accepted into the Repiratory Therapy program in Texas, where he plans to complete his B.S.  It looks like he'll make the Navy a career, so he's planning to re-up for 15 more.  He hopes to be stationed in Bethesda after his training is complete, so maybe we'll get to see him in the next few years.  The Navy certainly has provided an adventure for Brad, taking him to Russia, Bulgaria, the Ukraine, Romania, Naples, Rome, Turkey, Bahrain, and Germany so far, with more travels likely to come.  He's also among a group that has been highly decorated for their contributions to our fighting forces in Iraq.  Brad says he's glad to read on the PC website about the exploits and success of his fellow grads, but we're also certainly proud of Brad's contributions to our country!

~ Allison BARNEY ('02) writes with all sorts of news.  She has moved to Huntington, enrolled in Marshall University, and is majoring in Elementary Education, planning to graduate in December of 2006.  She will be getting married to Paul Ferguson, whom she met at Weslyan, on July 9th at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church here in Parkersburg, with fellow alumni Corey CRISS and Eric JILES playing major roles.  Paul is a 4.0 student at Marshall Medical school, where he expects to become a Doctor by May 2007.

~ Kathleen MURPHY ('86) joins our Alumni page with a note from her job with Edwards & Angell, LLP.  She has had an interesting year, delivering a son, Reilly Lawrence Murphy, who will be turning 1 on June 4th.  (He has the same birthdate as my brother.)  Reilly weighed in at only 2.14 pounds, but has rallied wonderfully and now goes about 20.  He is showing no negative side effects of his low birth weight, and is, she says, "a happy, smiling sweetheart of a little boy."  Kathleen sounds very happy and proud, as she should be.  Congratulations to little Reilly for his successful growth and development, and we wish you many more joyful years.

~ Eddie ESCANDON ('86) e-mailed us the other day to share some good news.  He has married a wonderful young woman by the name of Patricia Rodriguez Chaves, who is a very successful dentist in their current home town of Bogota, Colombia.  They were married in Lake Tahoe, Nevada on August 21, 2004, and are very happily living in Bogota now.  Eddie has written several books, created numerous political cartoons (see http://www.angryloser.com ), and is now beginning a small business that sells Colombian products (stop that, I know what you're thinking).   You can check out the website at http://www.cowtastic.net for cowhide rugs that really dazzle the eye.

~ Amber FOX Gill writes in to tell us that Jennifer EVANS Fair ('97) and her husband Mark have joyfully delivered a new child into the world.  Cody James was born on May 13 in Massillon, OH, where Jenny is a Registered Nurse on the Labor & Delivery floor.  It seems likely that she was surrounded with friends, which would have made the entire experience even more enjoyable.  Welcome, Cody!

~ I ran into Ryan FOUGHT ('98) yesterday, coming out of the Crystal Cafe downtown (which is now owned by J. R. CARPENTER ('??)) when he told me that he had taken a position as an Ad salesman with the Parkersburg News, which means he is working for Matt TRANQUILL ('96) who recently took over that department.  Ryan informs me that fellow alum Brad WILCOX ('98) is currently stationed in Italy, but will be taking a month-long break soon, before finishing his enlistment, probably also in Italy.  (Some guys really have it tough, eh?)  Brad's major complaint with his service so far seems to be that "no one here speaks English".

~ Joanne DUER ('85) wrote in the other day to update me on her entire family, so I thought I'd pass along all the good news.  Joanne is married to Bill Melvin, lives in Madison, Wisconsin, and has an excellent family of 4 children, Danielle, Sanders, Gerik, and Cleo.  Bill is a Union carpenter, and Joanne works part-time for WPS Insurance.
Her brother John DUER ('85) lives in Columbus, OH, with his wife Becky and their daughter Gillian.  He is employed by a utility company.
Nancy DUER Wood ('81) lives in Pearl City, Hawaii (lucky her) with her husband Brad, and sons Chris & Aaron.  Brad is in the Navy for a four-year stint (thanks for the service, Brad) and Nancy works part-time at Aaron's school.
Julie DUER Ceynar ('83) lives near Iowa City with her husband Dan and their children, Ryan and Grace.  She has just fought a successful battle with cancer, but remains alert to recurrences.
Christina DUER Kerekes ('88) also lives in Columbus, with her husband Eric, and children Hayden and Ashley.  Eric is a UPS supervisor, while Christina works part-time for Cigna Insurance.
Matriarch Rose DUER also lives in Columbus, where I'm sure she enjoys spending time with all the children and grandchildren, though Joanne assures me that she misses Parkersburg and her friends here.

~ Erin BEATY McNeal ('92) writes that she now live in Columbus with her husband John, who started a computer animation company called 2reveal.  She left her job in architecture to work full-time with him.  We wish them all the best in their business endeavor, which you can check out by clicking HERE.

~ Mark CYRAN ('75) writes from his home in Houston that he is interested in this year's Blue & White Weekend.  It probably seems impossible to him and his classmates that 30 years have passed since they exited the doors of PCHS, but time certainly flies when you are busy.  Mark is the VP of Managed Operations in North America for Atos Origin, a "business and technology integrator".  You can find out more about them by clicking HERE.

~ Jennefir GARVEY Bowser ('91) writes to congratulate the State Champion Crusaderettes on their victory over Wheeling Central.  She was a member of the 1991 Championship team, and knows how great the feeling is.  This win, by the way, was the Crusaderettes' 8th in school history, extending their state record for most championships.

~ Cathy KEUP ('99) is looking for some help.  She has recently moved to Tampa, Florida, and is wondering whether we have any alumni in the area who could help her become acclimated.  She is working for a firm called LCC International, and seems to be quite happy with her new situation.  She is very pleased to see the basketball teams doing so well, and sends a hearty "Let's Go Blue!"  If you or any of your friends live in the Tampa/Sarasota area, she'd love to hear from you.

~ Whitney MOORE ('99) writes again with a happy story of how a previous message enriched her life.   She had been searching for old friend Christy Mellecker, and we published her interest on this page.  Christy's father was searching the web one day, encountered the message, and gave Christy Whitney's e-mail address, causing them to connect once again.  As we continue to develop as a mobile nation, staying connected seems much more important.  As Whitney said, "I didn't realize what a wonderful tool the web-site was for keeping in touch."  Well, we do, and encourage all alumni to send in their e-mails.  You may rediscover friends you've been missing for years.

~ Kevin DOOLEY ('80) writes that he is now a District Manager for the St. Petersburg Times newspaper, and now resides in Dunedin, FLA.  He has a son, Brenden, who is 3 years old, and a new daughter, Rebecca, who is just one month of age.  His wife works for the Upper Pinellas Association for Retarded Citizens as a service coordinator.  They live near the water and enjoy the outdoors, as well as acting in an occasional community play.

~ JR HERRMAN ('96) was in the other day to say "Hi" and pick up some info for brother Jeremy ('00), who is on his way with the Navy to the Middle East.  JR is still working at Chick-Fil-A in the Mall while working on his Associate's Degree, for which he is only 6 hours away.  In his spare time, he is preparing for a 200-mile bike ride in the spring.  Jeremy is engaged to a wonderful girl who actually tries to keep him in line, but will be deployed overseas for awhile.  He is also adding to his education, and preparing for the future.  As always, our prayers are with him, as they are with all our service men and women.

~ Anne MATTHEWS ('02) writes that she and Hanna KHOURY ('02) are planning to marry on Dec. 18th.  Several of our alumni will be attendants, including Alyson DOYLE ('02), Jennifer HICKS ('02), Elizabeth AUGENSTEIN Jung ('95), and Whitney GOLDEN ('02).  The wedding will take place at St. Mary Church in Marietta at noon on that date.  Hanna is working part-time and continuing to pursue a pre-med degree from UC, and Anne is currently taking evening classes toward a degree in graphic arts.  She also reports that her little neice and nephew (Katherine Elaine and Alexander John) are doing wonderfully, and at 4 months of age are bringing much joy to the lives of all those around them.

~ Whitney MOORE ('99) wrote in to change her e-mail address, and reports that she has changed her land address as well (and probably will again soon).  She moved from Nashville to Charleston, SC to be closer to her mother, but the job market is pretty closed down there, so she is looking at moving into the Philadelphia/New Jersey area.  Apparently, Emily Evans is also in that area, so PC alumni continue to spread, and a friend can always be found wherever you go.

~ Congratulations to Bob and Irene (CLEGG) Sadler ('99) on the birth of their daughter, Madison Elizabeth Sadler.  After a couple days of tribulations (a recurring theme with our alumni these days), Madison entered the world at 12:30 AM on October 27th.  Weighing something over 6 pounds, she promises to be a real handful for mom and dad, and the grandparents.

~ Kristen (Davis) DeANGELO ('89), wife of Louis DeANGELO ('90) writes to fill us in on the latest in Louisiana.  Little Louis started First Grade this year, and remains likely onery as ever.  Alex is now 4 and entering preschool, while Aiden will turn 1 just before Christmas.  Baton Rouge is lovely this time of year, and the family is enjoying the fruits of their labors in the pizzeria business.  While reading the alumni page, Kristen noticed that Kevin JACKSON ('89) had moved to Bloomington, Indiana, where the DeAngelo's recently opened a new franchise.  Slowly but surely, PC alumni continue to take over the world.

~ Amanda WELKER ('01) has finished her Associates Degree in Business, and plans to complete her RBA in Business Administration in August.  She announces her impending marriage in July 2005.  She is currently serving as store manager of the Limited Too in the Mall.  Congratulations on your accomplishments Mandy, and keep us informed about the nuptials.

~ Pat HURLEY ('93) is in his 2nd year of Radiology residency at IU-Indianapolis, with 2 more to go.  He is considering neuroradiology and abdominal radiology for his career specialization.  He seems to like the west and midwest, and is looking at settling somewhere in that direction.  He passes along his greetings to former teachers and classmates, and was genuinely impressed with our Pink Floyd on-line course.

~ Jade TRAUGH ('00) writes in from Germany to tell us that life has been exciting for her lately.  She has continued her cheerleading career in a big way.  After having been a member of the National Championship team and receiving All-Conference honors in the WVIAC, she has moved to Germany and taken a position as assistant coach to the Frankfurt Galaxy Cheerleading squad.  She is completing her degree at an international college and getting to tour the NFL-Europe cities.

~ Laura ENGLE Roche ('83) has added her address to the alumni page.  She appears to be the Director of Staff Development for Scion Pharmaceuticals, and is located in Medford, Mass.

~ Congratulations to Mark and Erin AUGENSTEIN, who produced their first child on Sept. 29th, Nora Kathryn Augenstein, who weighed in at 7lbs. 9oz. and was 20 inches long.  Little Nora decided to be quite the trickster right up until the final moment, when she was delivered C-section after several gymnastics routines.  Everyone seems to be doing well now, in fact Mark was in yesterday to contribute a pint of blood to the Interact Club drive.  Pictures have been promised, and will be posted here when (if) they are received.  Meanwhile, I will (A)sulk since the kids chose not to use any of the exceptional names I suggested, and (B) await Nora's presence at a future football game (or on the Jr. High Basketball team).

~ Pat MURPHY writes in to say that she would very much like to hear from classmates of the '64, '65, '66 era.  Having suffered through an extensive list of physical ailments, she seems to be perking up, and would like to hear from those she misses from the "old days".  She's on the Alumni page, or you can click HERE.

~ Chris COX ('96) writes that he has begun a Teens-4-Teens website "in efforts to encourage young people with their struggles and search for Christ."  He is working with Andrea Santer and Bob Bell, and plans to contribute to this year's group.  You can visit the website HERE.  He also tells us that he has been happily married for nearly 5 years now, and his daughter Adriana is 18 months old.

~ An e-mail from Fernando CYSNEIROS Neto ('95) informs us that he has changed his e-mail address, and that he is still working as an attorney in his Brazilian hometown.  He is still recalling his visit to the U.S. last August with great fondness, including stopping by the school to spend some quality time with some of his "old" teachers.  It turned into quite a vacation, sending him to New York, Tulsa, Little Rock, Jeanette, St. Louis, and New Jersey.  He looked well and healthy then, and seems quite happy now.

~ I ran into Sarah BURKETT ('98) in the Mall (no, I didn't hurt her) where she was waiting for her mother, and in exceptionally good spirits.  She has completed her degrees and is preparing to begin a new job as a guidance counselor at Central School in Elkhart, Indiana.  She claims she'll be just a stone's throw from Notre Dame (throw a big one for me) and hopes to witness a football game there sometime this fall.  I hope she keeps smiling as much as she was when we saw her - it was contagious.

~ I ran into Krissy TOLZDA ('01) at the Outback - she had come "home" for a short visit.  She still attends Long Beach State, which she enjoys greatly, and is progressing nicely toward her degree in Fashion Merchandising and Business.  She is upbeat and smiling as always, and seems excited about her future career possibilities.  She also reports that entire family has move back to California, that brother Brad is now 6'2'', and that dad has become an assistant principal at a local school.  The left coast definitely seems to agree with her, as she looked happy, healthy, and lively.

~ Also at the Outback was Josh TENNANT ('01), though he was actually working for the summer.  He's also volunteering at Vienna Physical Therapy center, building up references for his resume.  He intends to apply to WVU for his Master's Degree, so we may be seeing more of him in the future.  He looks happy and healthy, and was in great spirits as always.

~ Abby GREER ('00) writes to update us on the entire brood.  She is now a graduate of James Madison, and is currently working as a consultant until she joins brother Sean ('94) in Morgantown next year to pursue her Master of Arts in Communication.  Sean, meanwhile, is now working for Morgantown Orthotics and Prosthetics, is also consulting, and continuing his education in the field of prosthetics.  Adam ('97) has moved to Hickory, NC where he will be teaching 2nd Grade (yikes!) in Cattawba County school system.  It's nice to see them all doing so well in their chosen endeavors.

~ Amanda (ONDRUSEK) Hattman ('97) is living in the state of Washington, and anxiously awaiting the return of her dearly beloved, Andy ('97).  She will have plenty to keep her busy soon, as she is teaching a 6th Grade Life Skills class this fall in a middle school there.  Knowing how much she loves teaching, we can be sure that she'll be having a great time, and giving those kids a wonderful experience too.  Our thoughts and prayers are also with Andy, wherever he is exactly.

~ GWEN (GRANT) Williamson ('92) writes that she and her husband are living in Chicago currently, and working on advanced degrees in psychology.  She sent me a photo (but I left it on another computer) proving that she looks the same as always (cute and smiling) and claims to remember her days at PCHS with great fondness.  You can contact her through the e-mail page, which is burgeoning this summer.

~ JOHN SMITH ('90) writes that he is the Co-Founder of FotoAmigo, a "photo sharing and social networking site designed for family and friends".  You can make an album to share with those you love quickly and easily.  Of course, John has a page, which includes a fabulous photo of himself and some friends after he had obviously just completed his first successful leap from an airplane.  Check it out and leave him a message!  HERE  You can also try out a free account to see how you like it at www.fotoamigo.com

~ YONG-YU TANG (formerly Austin Everson) ('99) writes to tell that he is in good health, excellent spirits, and doing very well professionally.  Having officially changed his name, YongYu has graduated college with a degree in Japanese, and received the Global Citizen Award for international contributions and the Tiger Award for his contributions to Salem International U.  He has been hired by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and will be moving to Shiroi City in Chiba prefecture at the end of July.  He expects to be overseas from now on, so I'm sure he would appreciate e-mails that help him keep up with events in the US.  He enjoys reading the PCHS webpage to stay current with events at his alma mater.

~ MEGHAN DUFFIELD KORBEE ('92) writes with loads of good news.  She, her husband and parents live in Cincinnatti still, where she is a Nurse Anesthetist at Bethesda North Hospital.  She is also an Associate Professor at UC, where she teaches Master's Degree students, and is the clinical coordinator for the Texas Weslyan N.A. program.  Her husband Kyle is district coordinator for Dart Container Corp., they have built their dream home, and are working to bring a PGA event to the River's Bend TPC.  She also informs us that her sister Marylee ('94) is still tiny as ever, but has a beautiful son named Alexander, who is about 10 months old.  Marylee is a buyer for Luxottica Eyewear, and her husband Terry is a policeman in Springboro.  Though neither girl was able to graduate from PCHS, they both fondly remeber their days here, and consider their long-ago classmates friends still.  Her e-mail address is on the alumni page.

~ JOHN ROMINE ('73) recently had the joy of celebrating the wedding of his daughter Amanda to Nicholas Kress.  Held on May 5th, the nuptuals united two former South grads.  Amanda is currently an LPN at Camden Clark, and Nicholas is in the U.S. Marine Corps.  Congratulations kids, have a good life together.

~ RYAN SIMONTON ('01) and CHERYL WOODY ('02) recently won prizes for their essays entered in the WVU English competition.  Both students were treated to a nice luncheon and certificates, as well as a check for $100.  I haven't seen Ryan to find out the topic of his paper, but Cheryl's was about the life of Harry Chapin.

~ AMBER (FOX) Gill, ('97), and her husband, Marcus, welcomed their first child, Andrew Conner, into the world on September 20, 2003.  Drew is only 2 days older than ERIN (BROGAN) ('97) and ROBBIE STRCULA's ('98) little Hannah Diane, so maybe we have another PC love affair in the making. Currently they are living in Lenoir, NC, where Amber teaches 4th grade.  However, at the conclusion of the school year they are moving back to Parkersburg so that Drew can be spoiled his grandparents and his aunt Kari and uncle Chase, who are still students at PCHS.  (I didn't write this one, I printed it "as is".  Look forward to seeing you soon, Amber (and your family).

~ Sofia WILDT was born to SHAUN ('83)and his wife Amy in London, England on April 13.  Weighing in at 8 pounds and 1 ounce, she was 22 inches long.  Older sister Madeliene is undoubtedly thrilled to have a playmate.

~ JASON CARRITHERS ('98) and SHERI CONGER ('97) were married recently, and we extend our heartfelt good wishes for their enduring happiness.

~ PETE VLAHUTIN ('89) dropped by the school to discuss with our students his new book (see below) and brought with him his lovely wife Jenn and their fabulous son John Paul.  The little fellow is a true delight, and it was wonderful to see this miracle child growing brighter and healthier by the minute.  Thanks for all your prayers during those early days, they were of great assistance to the family.  Pete's brother ANDREW ('94) is now working for JP Morgan, and has moved to Hong Kong for the next 3 years as his work station.

~ There is lots of news to report about the DOYLE girls today.  Lita dropped by to show us pictures of the new grandchild, and I tried to pick up as much info as I could about "our" girls.  MAUREEN ('92) is married to Chris GEIGER and lives next door to her sister in Cincinnati.  She works as an Interior Designer with Geiger Construction, and (I think I'm allowed to tell) is expecting a child in October.  Love ya, Mo.  Sister MARY (') is married to Tom DENEKA, and lives in Corning, NY.  They are the proud new parents of Jenna Michelle, who was born on Feb. 25.  Mary is a Chemical Engineer with Corning Inc.  Sister MOLLY (') is married to Jamie HAMMACK and lives in Arlington, VA.  She is a 6th grade teacher, and is no doubt loved by all her students.  ANNE MARIE ('96) married CALEB BURDETTE ('97) and they now live in Cincinnati next door to Maureen and her husband.  Anne Marie is a nurse at Christ Hospital.  ALYSON ('02) is a Sophomore at Marshall University, and is enjoying her college experience while exploring career options in the performing arts.

~ WHITNEY MOORE ('99) writes to say that she is living in Nashville, and is an assistant Bids Coordinator for Pinnacle Construction.  She is enjoying her life and hopes to stop in town for a visit sometime soon, since it's been over a year that she was here.  She is also seeking Christy Mellecker, an old friend with whom she has lost touch.  If anyone knows Christy's whereabouts, you can e-mail Whitney from our Alumni e-mail page.

~ CHERYL WOODY ('02) was admitted to Occupational Therapy School at WVU, and will be entering the program on July 1st.  She is playing on the WVU club softball team (they have no varsity program) which recently won their own tournament against Penn St., Delaware, and Loyola by going 5-0 over two days.

~ PETE VLAHUTIN ('89) has written a well-received and valuable book for teens entitled The Case for Chastity.  In our times, the dilemma about pre-marital sex gives many of our children choices they find difficult to handle.  This book provides real-life stories and down-to-earth strategies for dealing with the complexities of this problem.  You can read more about the book HERE.

~ KEVIN  JACKSON ('89) writes that he has moved to Bloomington, Indiana to take a new job as Systems Engineer for a firm that scans documents for county government offices.  He is now married to the woman of his dreams, Kimberly Lynn Jackson (nee Clark), and has a wonderful young son, Colin Anthony to keep him busy.  You can catch up at his website, www.kkjackson.net

~ PETE VLAHUTIN ('89) reports that little John Paul is home, and doing well.  After 122 days in ICU, he was allowed to go home with mom & dad, who were no doubt ecstatic.  He is still getting oxygen and on a monitor, but those are small inconveniences.  Pete and Jenny say "Thanks for the prayers" and we say, "Glad to have given them."  Pete is currently teaching at Chaminade College Preparatory School in St. Louis, which is almost as good as PCHS.
~ CATHY SHERIDAN SPINDLER ('93) writes to say that the 10-year reunion at this year's Blue & White Weekend was terrific.  Though the crowd was small, a happy group enjoyed an evening of reminiscing and catching up.  She thinks a good time was had by all, and hopes for a larger turnout next time.  She also wants to thank ED & SKIP ROEDERSHEIMER for the use of the Dils Center, and ADAM KRASON for his help in the preparations.  Pictures are on the way.
~ JEREMY HERRMANN ('00) dropped by, having just completed his Tech School in Florida, and getting a little break before heading off to Norfolk.  He is rated an Aviation Electronics Mate, and is now an Airman, though he is in the Navy (go figure).  He is at least partially responsible for keeping those big radar planes flying in the right direction, and not crashing into each other.
~ The WIEGAND children are getting along well.  BRENDA ('01) is headed off from Davidson to Australia for some study (we're jealous because she'll get to go to Outback whenever she wants - no waiting).  Michael ('00) remains on course at St. Vincent's, having just completed a semester as Resident Assistant, and discovering how ill-behaved some children can be.  He's still working on websites, and now plays on the Tennis team at college.
~ The ONDRUSEK family is getting interesting, as well.  MARY ('03) is headed off to Loyola in Chicago (which she will be attending with classmate ALEX POWDERLY).  Brother DAN ('01) has transferred to Hiram College, where he still plans to apply for medical school, explaining why he volunteered for orderly duty this summer.  AMANDA ('97) has completed the arc of her job in Cincinnati, and has decided to take a position in Hawaii (!) which she sees as a wonderful new adventure.
~ The BROGAN clan reported in via ERIN ('97) at graduation.  She is pregnant, and doing well with husband ROBBIE STRCULA ('98) in northern PA.  (They were in for SCOTT'S graduation.    Erin is getting ready to begin her rotations, and Robbie is enjoying his work with special children.  Meanwhile, KELLY ('92) is also pregnant again, preparing to add another beautiful child to her darling Maddie and Jacob.  SHANNON ('94) has completed her Ph.D., and is taking a teaching position with Ohio University's Chillicothe campus, which will put her in the same town with her parents, Larry & Patty.
~ TRAVIS JONES ('90) continues to work at his first love, radio broadcasting.  He is now the voice of the WVU Women's Basketball team, and the Bridgeport High School football program.  I saw him at a basketball game with St. John's this past year, and he looks well and sounds better.  He's very optimistic about the direction of the ladies' team, and was pulling for our boys at the State Tournament (but couldn't alter the outcome).
~ NICOLE JOSEPH ('93) has just added her e-mail to our alumni page.  Nicole has been working for awhile now as our pharmascist at the St. Marys Avenue CVS.  It always brightens my day to see her smiling face behind the counter when I drop in.
~ MARY AZAR ('96) writes that she has graduated cum laude from Purdue University with her Master's Degree.  She is currently working as Political Director for Republican National Committee, coordinating political projects in Indiana.  This fall she plans to move to New York, and attend Syracuse University for Law School.
~ KELLY NORTHRUP ('00) is currently in Scotland as part of a study-abroad program at Ursinus.  She has been having a wonderful time, learning a great deal, and enjoying the cultural experience.  Her family recently visited her, finding the trip quite a treat, and Kelly excitedly writes about her side trips to "The Continent", where she has visited (among other things) the fabulous Renaissance artworks she studied in  school.
~ LYNNE ANDERMANIS ('00) recently received two leadership awards for her participation in organizations at college.  Her outstanding contributions earned her campus-wide respect, but she still has to take Finals anyway (and is stressing out a bit over them.)  Her family has moved to New Jersey, but she hopes to visit us soon.
~ MIKE ANDREWS ('79) writes to update us on his recent history.  Since graduating and attending PCC (now WVU-P), he spent 9 years in the Air Force, worked for the Security Police, and was honorably discharged in 1992.  He has since worked for the Riverside Police Dept. in patrol operations, and has had special assignments in robbery and warrant services.  He has been married for 16 years to Denita - they have one child, the 15-year old Jaymes.  He also has a 21-year old daughter named Heather Hemphil, who lives in Seattle, Wash.  (Say "Hi" to Ichiro for me!)  It is good to hear from our alumni after such a passage of time, and we all wish Mike well.
~ JON MADER ('87) and his lovely wife Dana have brought another beautiful child into the world (who obviously looks like Dana).  Kendal Ann was 6 pounds, 12 ounces, and 20 inches long on February 8, and has surely grown some by now.  The proud parents also have Jordan Elizabeth who recently turned 3 years of age.  Dana has gone back to work as a Database Administrator at WVU-P, while Jon continues to be Business Systems Manager at Eramet Marietta.  Congrats to the new parents, and all our love to the girls.
~ MICHAEL RODRIGUEZ ('98) informs me that he is now gainfully employed by Tocquigny Advertising in Austin, Texas.  He graduated last spring from Southwest Texas State, and is pleased to be working for a business that is growing well.  He is currently working to improve his company's website (http://www.tocquigny.com) and is excited about the fantastic proposals that have been made.  Keep making us proud, Mike!
~ AARON WELCH ('93 almost) writes to fill us in on some of his days since leaving us.  Moving to Ohio in '91 did not seem to negatively effect him, as he proceeded to attend and graduate from West Point.  He is now a Captain, is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and is married to a wonderful girl from Kansas.  He is part of the 1st Cavalry Division Staff, and asks that we all remember our soldiers in our prayers.  I'm sure we can oblige, knowing that we have a large number of our former students out there fighting to protect our freedoms.
~ KENNY KUBACKI ('88) writes to catch up on the "good old days".  He is now a Systems Analyst in the eSolutions department of Magellan Heathcare.  He came across our website while searching the 'net at lunch one day (yeah, "lunch" sure) and was pleased with what he saw.  Now located in St. Louis, he wonders how his former classmates are doing.
~ CHRISTY FOUGHT PANNELL ('89) writes to tell us that she and her husband Stan have experienced the joy of welcoming their first child, Lillie Elizabeth, to the world.  Lillie Beth was born on June 24, weighing 8 lbs. 3 oz. and was 21.5 inches long.  The child is, no doubt, as beautiful as her mother, and a true blessing.  Congratulations Christy and Stan!  (She has also changed her e-mail address.)
~ JARED  BAUER ('98) was in yesterday, driving a sunny yellow VW van, and reports that he is doing well in Grad school at American U., as well as working two jobs at once.  That's the old PC spirit, do twice as much as necessary!
~ DIEGO BENAVENTE ('93) was also in yesterday!!!  He was sent to the U.S. by his current business to make sure our branches are operating properly.  He has set aside his career as an investment analyst to work in "business intelligence".  He had a nice visit with the Fligors, and is now driving to North Carolina, from whence he will have to drive back to Washington, then possibly on to Boston.  Quite a whirlwind trip.  He looks happy and healthy, and is considering an MBA from Duke.  Go man go!

~ STEPHANIE LOFTY DURNELL ('93) is teaching at St. Joseph's Elementary school in Huntington.  I saw her at our Diocesan In-Service, and she looks healthy and happy.  She enjoys her job greatly, and also enjoys living outside of H-ton, where life is a little slower and more peaceful.  Her smile is still the same as it always was, radiant.   She also reports that her sister STACY LOFTY ('97) is working in Georgetown, I think at the Medical Center, so I assume as a nurse.  I always knew those young ladies would turn out wonderfully.

~ CHERYL McHUGH (nee STOUT) ('93) had a beautiful 7 pound, 19 inch baby girl, which she and her newly-graduated (with a Master's Degree) husband Patrick named Madison Taylor.  (Obviously, she remembered all those Presidents from History class!)  The whole family is doing well, and Grandma Teresa has a picture on her computer that she'll gladly show to you anytime.

Several interesting e-mails were received over the summer, providing some info on our alums.
~ EDDIE ESCANDON ('86) is now "The Man" at a website called "The Angry Loser".  (I can't provide a link, because our Cyberpatrol stops it.  You can figure out why.)  Eddie now lives in Bogota, Colombia, where he draws cartoons, writes anecdotes, and watches pink river dolphins cavort.  His sense of irony remains sharp.
~ BOZ MARCHI ('79) now works as a financial advisor for Scott & Stringfellow in Raleigh, NC.  He also has a website (bozboz.com), with his picture and everything (but I don't think it mentions PC).
~ MATT DYKHOFF ('88) is an NT Systems Administrator with Computer Sciences Corporation.
~ JORGE BOGARIN ('00) now works in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paraguay.  This is his part-time job until he (hopefully) becomes a lawyer.  He is doing very well these days, and hopes to return to the US to see his former schoolmates.
~ BEVERLY HICKEL SHELDON  ('57) wrote in with some info, and a request.  If you know of an e-mail address for PATRICIA KESTERSON SWEYER, Bev seems to have misplaced hers.  She'd like to get in touch with Patsy, so if anyone has a current address, please let Bev know.  You can e-mail her by clicking HERE.
~ MARK MALLET ('98) has successfully completed his degree in Economics from Xavier, and is headed for Capitol Law School in Columbus, with an eye toward Ohio State Law School.  His duties as President of the Xavier student body (budget over half a million dollars!) forced him to delay entry into OSU, but he hopes to be accepted after one year, since the two institutions have a working agreement to accept coursework.
~ RENEE MEDLEY has finished another accomplished year at Dayton, where she is not only an accomplished student, but also a member of the cheerleading squad.  She is still well-protected by her brother Craig, and both are looking forward to welcoming JAMIE there next year.  Renee is doing a summer business internship in Marietta.
~ LAURA WARD is still moving toward her degree in Veterinary Medicine at Auburn, but is spending this summer at home, working for Dr. Rhodes.  Zach (our 80-pound German Shepherd) is looking forward to visiting her.
~ KELLY HATTMAN is now employed by the University of Kentucky, as she continues to work toward an advanced degree.  She has been studying a wide range of statistics involving Social Security, and will be teaching a class in Decision-Making this summer.
~ SEAN GREER has applied for a job in Morgantown, where he hopes to work with a younger clientele than he has been in Florida.  He is also hopeful that he will get the chance to lecture for some WVU courses.  He will probably also spend some time with ADAM, who is trying to finish his degree in Morgantown.
~ KELLY NORTHRUP dropped in for a visit from Ursinus College, where she is doing very well, majoring in Math and Classical Studies.  She has been selected for Phi Beta Kappa (quite an honor for a sophomore) and will be going to St. Andrews in Scotland next year to study for a year.  Hope you enjoy the haggis, Kelly - congratulations and good luck.
~ AMY LaBARRE-Thornton ('93) returned to our area, and is looking for new connections.  She has filed for divorce, and brought her twin sons Jacob and Joshua back to Marietta where they will be surrounded by loving relatives.  Having aunts and uncles nearby will be of great help to her, and surely Scott ('89) and Mary Augenstein ('90) LaBarre and Bill ('87) and Tammy LaBarre are thrilled as well.
~ RHEA RUSSELL Bomer writes in to say that she would be thrilled to hear from old friends.  She is an LPN at local geriatric behavioral health unit, and seems quite happy.  She and her husband David recently renewed their vows, and have three lovely children - Adam (12), Justin (9), and Nathan (5).  You can contact Rhea by clicking on her e-mail link on the e-mail page.
~ LAURIE KEIFE will be getting married this summer.  She is living in New Orleans, Louisiana now (wonder if she runs into Louis and Kristen or Tim DeAngelo?).  She will marry Nicholas Scandurro at the Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on June 22nd.  Our best wishes go out to the new couple for a lifetime of happiness and prosperity.
~ LAURA BITTENBENDER was in the other day, having completed her boot camp at Lackland AFB in San Antonio.  She is looking well and fit, and is anxious to move on to the next stage of her training, at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington, where she will become an MP.  Her ultimate goal is to attain a position in high-level security, perhaps with the FBI or Secret Service.
~ DIEGO BENAVENTE ('93) reports that he is now the Regional Development Officer for Fleet Boston Financial in the Andean Region of South America.  The specific group is called BankBoston Chile, truly a sign of modern times.  He sends his best to all those who were a part of his educational and social experience at PCHS, and hopes to return to Parkersburg someday and say "Thanks" in person.  We look forward to seeing him as well.
~ PATRICK HURLEY is expecting to receive his M.D. on May 18th, after which he will take up residency in radiology, first in Pittsburgh, then in Indianapolis.  He is quite excited, because these were his first choices for residence.  Eventually, he hopes to specialize in applications of radiology to diseases in children.
~ TOM SANTER has taken a job with Edward Jones Investments, giving up his long-time association with Enterprise.  He is looking forward to an interesting foray into the world of investment counseling.
~ MICHAEL IAFRATE has returned to Wheeling Jesuit University, where he is currently working toward his MA in Theology, with specific applications to Social Justice.  Naturally, he continues his interest in music, now being associated with an alien-rock band known as The Minus Tide.  Check out their info at this location.
~ CHRIS FELL ('93) wrote in from the Pentagon, where he and his wife currently work.  He sent in his thoughts and prayers on John Smith's passing.
~ TRACY GALLO ('90) said "Hello" from Tucson, Arizona where she is currently employed (I believe) at St. Gregory's school.  You can contact her from our Alumni e-mail page.
