13-1 Regular Season Record
In an 8-team league, PC finished 1st in the Regular Season by winning all but their final game.  Led by Mary Ostrowski, the leading scorer in the County, the team swept through the playoffs, defeating Washington 34-18, Edison 34-23, and Vandevender 35-19, to finish 16-1 overall and claim the Championship.  Mary averaged over 20 points per game that season (though I have not been able to find many details) and scored 23, 13, and 26 in the tournament games, before moving up to help the Varsity team for the rest of her career, which included a national record 88-game winning streak..

In their second year in the league, the Crusaderettes continued to do well for our size, but the attention would be continually moving toward the Varsity team in the ensuing years.  The team lost, 19-30 to Hamilton in the first round of the Tournament.

Despite the presence of up-and-comer Judy Eaton, the team suffered its first winless season in the Wood County League.  Judy finished 4th in the County in scoring, with 170 points, but was not available in the Tournament game against Vandevender, which the team lost 14-46.  Ironically, this was the same day that the Varsity team ended its State Record 88-game winning streak by losing to PHS.

The team bounced back with an excellent season, but the league had gotten tougher as well.  Williamstown was added to the club, and there were then 9 teams playing in the Wood County league.  Freshman point guard Shannon Garton scored 101 points to finish 14th in the County, and 8th-Grade athlete Kristen Davis tallied 94 (17th).  Still, the team got pounded, 14-32 by Washington in the first round of the County Tournament.

A fabulous team that suffered several bad breaks, the group really came together at the end of the season.  We lost a three-way coin toss, forcing the girls to win the "play-in" game to even participate in the County Tournament against the #1 seed.  With a wild finish, the girls defeated Vandevender on their own home court to go into the tournament.  There they gave their most valiant performance of the year, but dropped a hard-fought decision to Hamilton.  Freshmen Kristen Davis (198 points, 4th in the County) and Ginger Mazzella (108 points, 16th) led the team in scoring and attitude, though the team was loaded with wonderful people: [9th ~ Kristen Davis, Aileen Kilcullen, Ginger Mazzella, Lara McHenry, Adriana Prieto, Christa Rodersheimer, Kay Santer; 8th ~ Leeanne Minard, Ginger Pumala; 7th ~ Bethany Avington, Casey Baker, Laura Foster, Missie Moore, Marcie Whitlock.]

    Hamilton was 19-0 that year.
Our 11 Game Losing Streak was snapped when we beat Edison at their place, then won two more games before the season ended.  We lost an LKC game when the famous Mandy Meeks tossed in a falling-down luck shot at the buzzer.  Our reward for defeating Edison a second time was to play #1 ranked Hamilton in the Tournament.
Our team was composed of Deena Mader (9), Laura Foster (8), Missie Moore (8), Bethany Avington (8 after tennis), Jennefir Garvey (7), Amy Eichstadt (7), Christi Flanagan (7), Gwen Grant (7), Meghan Duffield (7), Carole Anne Lozinski (7),  & Laura Ramirez (7).

It was a hard-working group of young girls with great attitudes who nearly pulled off the upset of the decade.  Despite playing with only 7th & 8th Graders against the County teams who nearly all started 5 Freshmen, these Crusaderettes refused to believe that they were not the best team in the league.  After reeling off 10 straight wins, the girls got derailed in a tough ballgame, and had some injuries hamper them in a second loss.  After that, they put their heads down and went hard the rest of the way, but came up just short in the title game.  Courtney Modesitt and Beth Reck were named to the All-Tournament team.
