Directions to PCHS

    This page is intended for those parents who are interested in visiting our school to consider enrolling their child, or for opposing teams who need directions to the school for athletic events. Because of the many routes into and through Parkersburg, it was impossible to collect accurate maps of the area, though you may find assistance at numerous other websites, such as MapQuest or GoogleMaps. You should be warned, however, that many of those maps do not contain the latest road construction, and may be inaccurate or confusing. We have tried to make this page as easy to follow as possible, and suggest that you print the directions to carry with you. (Just highlight the part you need and click "Print Selection" from your Printer menu.)

    Please note the asterisks (*) which indicate that current construction may soon lead to a better route.

    Please also be aware that not all athletic events take place at the school. If you are attending a Football, Soccer, Baseball, or Softball game, or Tennis match, the contest may be in another venue. If you are not certain that one of the linked locations above is the site of the contest you are attending, please contact the school for further assistance.

From Athens: Begin by traveling East on US 50 toward Parkersburg. (*Changes coming) Take the Belpre exit, but remain in the left-hand lane. Passing through the light, head across the Memorial Toll Bridge (35 cents for cars). When exiting the toll booths, proceed directly forward through the next two sets of lights, following the new signs that read "68 North - Sistersville". (Be sure to stay in the right lane after the first stoplight.) This will have you on Emerson Avenue, on which you will proceed through two more stoplights. (The first light is at North Parkersburg Baptist Church, and the second is near the fire station.) You will see the N.E.T. pub on your right, and just beyond it, a short curving access onto 36th street, also to your right. Turn Right here. After moving safely through the Yield signs here, proceed to the next light and turn Right. This will be Cadillac Drive, and you will pass Hamilton Jr. High (on your right). Turn Left at the stop sign, which will place you on Fairview Avenue. The school is located at 3201 Fairview Avenue. This will be on your right as you come down the street. We suggest that you park buses in the area between the High School and the Kindergarten after unloading. Visiting cars may park in any available space.

From Cambridge: Begin by traveling South on I-77. It is best to come all the way to the US Route 50 exit. This is a long exit ramp, which sweeps Right at the bottom, placing you directly onto Rte. 50. Remain in the right-hand lane, and take the 7th Street exit. Stay in the Right lane and turn Right at the stop sign onto 7th Street. (You will shortly pass McDonald's on your right.) The next stoplight will come at Fairview Avenue, where you should turn Right. The school is located at 3201 Fairview Avenue. This will be on your left as you come down the street. We suggest that you park buses in the area between the High School and the Kindergarten after unloading. Visiting cars may park in any available space.

From Charleston: Begin by traveling North on I-77. Take the US Route 50 Exit, which will bring you down a long ramp to a stoplight, from which you will turn Left. Move to the Right lane as you turn, and notice that there is a stoplight under the overpass. After this light, you should prepare to move into the Right-hand lane, which will allow you to exit Rte. 50 to the Right. Stay in the Right lane and turn Right at the stop sign onto 7th Street. (You will shortly pass McDonald's on your right.) The next stoplight will come at Fairview Avenue, where you should turn Right. The school is located at 3201 Fairview Avenue. From Clarksburg: Begin by traveling West on US 50 toward Parkersburg. As you arrive in town, you will come under I-77. Notice that there is a stoplight under the overpass. From Marietta: The easiest path would be to travel South on I-77. Take the US Route 50 Exit, which will bring you down a long ramp to a stoplight, from which you will turn Left. From Pomeroy: Begin by traveling North on Ohio Rte. 7. You will connect to US 50 near Little Hocking. You will now be traveling East on US 50 toward Parkersburg. From St. Marys: Begin by traveling South on WV Rte. 2. You might wish to transfer to I-77 South (toward Charleston) at the first stoplight. Take the US Route 50 Exit, which will bring you down a long ramp to a stoplight, from which you will turn Left. Move to the Right lane as you turn, and notice that there is a stoplight under the overpass. After this light, you should prepare to move into the Right-hand lane, which will allow you to exit Rte. 50 to the Right. Stay in the Right lane and turn Right at the stop sign onto 7th Street. (You will shortly pass McDonald's on your right.) The next stoplight will come at Fairview Avenue, where you should turn Right. The school is located at 3201 Fairview Avenue. You might also continue on Rte. 2 into Parkersburg. At the intersection with Rosemar Road, you will have a BP station on your right, Woodcrafters and CVS on your left. Proceed through this light to the next intersection with a light, at 36th Street. You will have a Chevron station on your left. Turn Left here, onto 36th Street and proceed to the next light, where you will turn Right. This will be Cadillac Drive, and you will pass Hamilton Jr. High (on your right). Turn Left at the stop sign, which will place you on Fairview Avenue. The school is located at 3201 Fairview Avenue. This will be on your right as you come down the street. From Weston: The fastest and easiest way is to go North on I-77 to Clarksburg. Turn Left off the exit ramp, which will put you onto US Route 50 West. You will now be headed toward Parkersburg. As you arrive in town, you will come under I-77. Notice that there is a stoplight under the overpass. After this light, you should prepare to move into the Right-hand lane, which will allow you to exit Rte. 50 to the Right. Stay in the Right lane and turn Right at the stop sign onto 7th Street. (You will shortly pass McDonald's on your right.) The next stoplight will come at Fairview Avenue, where you should turn Right. The school is located at 3201 Fairview Avenue. This will be on your left as you come down the street. We suggest that you park buses in the area between the High School and the Kindergarten after unloading. Visiting cars may park in any available space.

From Wheeling: There are two acceptable paths to Parkersburg. Both take about the same amount of time, but WV Route 2 is filled with small towns and stoplights, which you may find quaint or simply annoying. If you take Route 2 South, you will pass through New Martinsville, Paden City, Sistersville, and St. Marys. (See the directions from St. Marys.)
You may also take I-70 West, exiting at Cambridge, Ohio onto I-77 South. (See the directions from Cambridge.)

*Upcoming Changes: Workers are in the process of connecting US Route 50 to bypass Belpre and downtown Parkersburg altogether. When these changes are complete, we will update the above, but be aware that taking the exit near the Shell plant (about 3 miles West of Belpre) will be a much faster way to get to our school. Once the bridge opens at that location, you will be able to cross the river there, following the highway to the 7th Street exit. Turn Left (carefully) at this exit, which will bring you through the underpass beneath Route 50. (You will shortly pass McDonald's on your right.) The next stoplight will come at Fairview Avenue, where you should turn Right. The school is located at 3201 Fairview Avenue. This will be on your left as you come down the street. We suggest that you park buses in the area between the High School and the Kindergarten after unloading. Visiting cars may park in any available space.

For Athletic Events, assume that you are beginning at the school,
though this may not be the fastest way to get to the venue.

Football Games are usually held at Stadium Field behind Parkersburg High School, though Jr. High games are usually held behind PCHS. To get to Stadium Field from PCHS, turn Left going out of the school parking lot onto Fairview Avenue and proceed until you come to a Stop sign. Turn Left at this sign and proceed on Broad Street until you come to the next Stop sign. Turn Right onto 23rd Street and continue until you come to a stoplight, at which you will be looking directly at Parkersburg High School. Stadium Field is directly behind the school.

Soccer Games may be held in a variety of places. Opposing coaches should consult our coach to be certain of the venue for that day, then pass along the directions to their fans.

Baseball games and Tennis matches are usually held at our City Park. Turn Right out of the PCHS parking lot, and proceed to the next Stop sign, which is at the corner of Fairview and 23rd Street. Turn Right onto 23rd, and you will pass the Park on your Left. Entrances to the Park are off Park Avenue, onto which you should turn Left.

Softball games and some Baseball games are held at Rosemar Fields in Jackson Park. From PCHS, turn Left out of the parking lot onto Fairview Avenue. The second street on your Right will be Cadillac Drive, on which sits Hamilton Jr. High school. Turn Right onto Cadillac and proceed to the stoplight. Turn Left at the stoplight onto 36th Street, and proceed to the next stoplight at Emerson Avenue. Turn Right onto Emerson, and proceed to the next stoplight, at the intersection with Rosemar Road. Turn Left at this intersection onto Rosemar Road, and proceed about 1.5 miles until you see the fields on your Left. The Softball diamonds are to the Left of the parking lot, while the Baseball diamond is to the Right.
