Twentieth Century History – Grade 11 – Required – One Credit – Two Semesters – should have taken WC I and II

Using historical developments since 1896 as a framework, we explore the key events, personalities, and concepts which have shaped the time period.  With emphasis on the foundations of the 20th Century, World War I, the Roaring 20’s, World War II, the Cold War, the ‘60’s and ‘70’s, and events from our students’ lives, we attempt to explore the amazing variety of factors that have shaped our world today.  Students build their own textbook from notes, original source documents, and graphic organizers.  They process information through class participation and in journals, and produce a mini-project each quarter that demonstrates their unique understanding of the subject matter.  Course goals include mastery of relevant information, a demonstration of personal insight, the development of writing skills, and the advancement of critical thinking skills and personal development.
