Mission Statement
VISION STATEMENT FOR
PARKERSBURG CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

The history of Parkersburg Catholic High School is rich with spiritual, academic, and athletic achievements.  Since 1958, PCHS has stood for excellence in all areas of student life and is seen in the community as a place of family, church, community, and a place to receive an educational opportunity.  Supported by Bishop Bernard Schmitt, the community and the parishes, PCHS is growing continually as the new millennium begins.

PCHS stays true to its roots with a constant eye on the religious curriculum, while focusing on the other needs required to provide a well rounded total educational experience our students deserve.  Our doors are open to all students regardless of creed, race, or special need.  Our curriculum successfully blends the best from the past with the recognition of new areas of study.  In addition to religion, the mastery of language and writing skills, math fundamentals, the appreciation of great literature, and a knowledge of human history are balanced with the ever increasing role of technology and science.  We accomplish this important task through a varied curriculum which ranges from traditional to accelerated courses.  We offer opportunities for growth with a wide variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including academic competitions and a very successful no-cut athletic program.

Our foundation is strong thanks to the foresight and hard work of those before us.  We must continue this tradition.  A long-term plan and a five year technology plan are in place, and the High School Improvement Committee is working now and will continue to work to help us see the future.  It is a future where technology takes us into wonderful new directions but does not take us away from religious and academic fundamentals that we value so highly and where we can continue to expand our curriculum to offer greater choice.  To remain competitive, we must ensure a creditable roster of teachers by offering fair wages and competitive benefit packages.  It is even more important, as a Catholic institution, that we practice economic justice and reward those individuals for their support of our vision. We will continue to open our doors to all families seeking spiritual growth for their children, no matter what their faith.  We can accomplish these objectives with a strong marketing program to increase our tuition base, effective budget management, and well-organized fund raising efforts.

We are Parkersburg Catholic High School, constantly working to have a strong Catholic identity that permeates every aspect of the school.  We are blessed with the company of outstanding students from families who hold a genuine interest in the well-being of their children and the future success of our educational system.  We will strive to exceed their expectations and to make Parkersburg Catholic High the clear choice as we begin the new millennium.
